Phlebectomy

The course of treatment for some patients with large ropy veins, may be to remove those damaged veins. This procedure is called “stab phlebectomy” or “ambulatory phlebectomy.” This is a surgical procedure, where tiny incisions are made directly over the large varicose veins, and the vein is carefully removed in specific sections. In most cases, just a few incisions are required in order to really make a difference in the cosmetic appearance of the veins. These incisions are very small, usually less than half a centimeter.

Although no one likes to think about punctures or incisions, this procedure is not considered painful by most patients. This procedure is done in our Vein Center of North Florida office.
